Hi, I'm Michelle.

Creativity has been a constant thread throughout my life, although it took me many years to realise just how important it was to me. Like many people, I spent years building a career, raising a family, and putting my own creative interests on the back burner. It wasn't until later in life that I discovered the joy, connection and sense of calm that art could bring.

Today, I'm the owner of The Art Clubhouse in New Gisborne, a welcoming creative space where people of all ages can explore, create, experiment and simply enjoy making something with their hands.

My journey into the arts began through my hand-painted backdrop business, MCB Studio Backdrops, where I create one-of-a-kind painted canvases used by photographers and creatives across Australia. What started as a hobby grew into a thriving business and reminded me that creativity isn't reserved for "artists" – it's something everyone can enjoy.

The Art Clubhouse was born from a desire to share that experience with others. I wanted to create a space where children could make a mess, adults could switch off from the demands of everyday life, and everyone could feel comfortable trying something new without fear of getting it wrong.

Whether it's painting, clay, mixed media, slime making, holiday programs, paint and sip events, or simply spending time with like-minded people, my goal is to make creativity accessible, fun and welcoming for everyone.

When I'm not teaching classes or planning workshops, you'll usually find me covered in paint, creating in the studio, spending time with my family, or dreaming up the next creative adventure.

I believe art isn't about perfection. It's about curiosity, connection, self-expression and finding joy in the process.
